KL (Back-date entry)
Went to KL the previous weekend. I've been there several times already but this time, before going, i was already looking forward to it. Over there, I don't need to think about work, abt job search, or even the household chores (hee...). It was really like a quick getaway from the mundane working life that we lead.
So, we did the usual shopping and eating. Went to Ozeki, a Japanese restaurant, for the 1st time and guess what?! I ate beef!!! And it's
Kobe beef! MY GOD!!! It's such a sin. But Zuyao kept tempting me, telling me how expensive it is, etc etc.
Well, but it really didn't differ much from other meats i feel. There was no taste, no beef smell...but it was very tender and fresh.
I still remember quite clearly the 1st time i tasted beef. That was in primary 1 when my teacher brought us to the MacDonalds at YMCA. I didn't know what a hamburger contains and i vomitted immediately the 1st bite into the hamburger.
From then on, i've never touched beef at all. Mainly it's also because all along i thought i was the god-daughter of the Guanyin, hence i could not eat beef. Only up till recently that i realised i'm not!!! Really got a big shock coz the reason why i don't eat beef is this, yet now i'm told that i'm NOT Guanyin's god-daughter!
But then i don't think i'm missing out. I still want to stick to a non-beef diet because i pray to Guanyin. At home it's a definite no no to beef, but outside, i won't eat beef, unless it's Kobe beef, i may consider...
Food aside, i learnt how to play 三角麻将! It's really fun coz it's much faster then normal 4-player mahjong. Luck plays a large part in whether u win or not in 3-player mahjong, it's not like 4-player mahjong where your skills count more than luck. Lost 50 over ringget at first but managed to recoup my losses eventually, hee...
This time round didn't get to eat JW Marriott's 小笼包, next time i'll be back!
Dilemma
I'm at home again. Went for the 3rd interview with Parkway Shenton. This time is with the COO. He's quite a nice guy -- easy going and humourous. Most importantly is he is sincere, at least it seems to me.
Initially i thought this job was a gone case. Coz i went for the 2nd interview on 6 March (Monday) and the interviewer said that if i didn't get a reply by the week, it means i'm not selected.
Well, 3 weeks had gone by so naturally i thought i didn't get the job. However, i received a phone call asking me to go for 1a 3rd interview! It's really puzzling to hear from the HR gal that she didn't know i met the 2nd interviewer when it was she herself who arranged the meeting!
Anyway, i had long decided that i would wait for my bonus in June before leaving. It's really the logical thing to do coz the bonus would be ard 2-3 mths and it would really come in handy.
Besides, i've just done my annual appraisal and am waiting for the pay increment in April. It won't be a lot but at least it gives me better bargaining power when negotiating the pay for future jobs.
Now that this 3rd interview has come along, it really frustrates me. Though it's not confirmed, but what if? What if i really get the job? Should i just quit and forgo my bonus? Or should i let go of the opportunity and stay on for the bonus? Since i've already waited for so long, staying on for 2-3 more mths doesn't really make a difference. But the new job sounds like what i like to do...and it's not easy getting all the way here.
For money's sake, a part of me is hoping that i don't get the job. At least it spares me the agony of having to decide between quitting n staying. Well, the "results" will be out tommorrow so meanwhile i guess i'll just see what happens.
A special nite on 19th March 2006
It was my sister's and Ken's wedding nite! It was a very simple dinner, buffet style, at the Conrad International. The venue was small but cosy, with a great ambience i felt. The food wasn't really fantastic though, or it'd be almost perfect.
I wanted to do my hair at the neighbourhood salon but there was so many pple! Waited for 20 minutes and gave up. Styled it myself and luckily it was quite nicely done...at least it looked styled,hee...
Baby Aden looked so cute in his mini tuxdeo! Besides cute i really dunno how to describe him...but he was so naughty, wouldn't let anyone else besides my mum and Ken to carry him. Even me! Hmmph! Took quite a lot of pictures of him but he kept moving so it was difficult to get good ones.
I've uploaded some photos unto my multiply.com website. Here's some of my favourites...

My Superstar -- Super cute Aden!
Taken on Sis & Ken's wedding nite @ Conrad International. He's sooooooo cute!!! More on the nite coming soon...
Home sweet home
Fell sick yesterday and got an MC so staying home today. My terrible headache yesterday has gone away but feel a little giddy now. Throat very dry and tight now, feels quite weird.
But then it's good to stay home, even doing nothing. And the plus point is, i get to play with Aden boy! Must be careful not to pass my virus to him though, or i'll get it from my sis.
Well, hope to recover soon coz i'm going KL tonite. Looking forward to it (though i've been there countless times) coz it feels like a short getaway, with good food and shopping.
There's 1 thing though, i'm on MC today n leave tmr, Bee Kim on mc these 2 days so no one is doing the daily report. But i shouldn't care so much coz health is more impt than work. Besides i believe my boss will get the figures somehow.
I passed my basic!
Yay! The next hurdle is the final theory test on 15 May...hopefully can pass it on the 1st attempt then can start to take lessons le.
Btw, last Sunday was my sis's wedding "banquet" (it's a buffet actually). Will upload the photos once zuyao has burn them into a CD for me.
You Tube sharing
Saw some websites having videos from You Tube and decided that i can't do without one too. So experimented a bit and tada! It's up here at the side bar! I haven't figured out a way to put it on the actual post itself so for the moment, it stays there.
Wanted to put the clip of Yu Yang (my Manjusri junior!) singing Feng by Jay Chou but can't find so i'll share the next best thing, which is Adriano singing Jia Gei Wo.
Lucky day
Today seems to be a rather lucky day for me! Here's what happened:
1) My radio blog is finally up! After much exploring, experimenting and failing...i have finally uploaded the radioblog onto my website. Credits go to Lingjie for advising me to use the non-php version...the instructions from hannaxbear's website is really clearer and easier to follow for IT idiots like me. Now i can upload the songs that i like and share them with everyone...
Speaking of songs, try listening to songs by 侧田 on my radioblog k? He's a newcomer in the Hong Kong music scene and has won many newcomer awards for his debut album released in Nov 2005. Apparently they are billing him as the next big thing to look out for.
2) My parents struck 4D! It's not a lot though, but winning itself is enough to make them and us happy...partly becoz they gave me some money, hee...
3) I bought a GUESS watch as my birthday present from BB5/ CC6! Wanted to buy it at Bugis Junction but it costs $150 (before 10% discount) and Zuyao suggested we go Mustafa to check out the price. So we did and it's selling at $124! It's so much cheaper but then the service sucks. The Indian Uncle is damn attitude and bu xue...really can't help but laugh,hee...
4) And Baby Aden is so cute!!! He never fails to brighten my day! Here's a cute pic of him taken when i reach home:
Pardon me for the partly erased background. That's my half naked father lying on the bed, which i can't bear to show, hee...
My first strawberry cake!
I've finally succeeded in baking my first strawberry cake today! It was quite a tedious process...especially making the whipped cream (which i failed to do once and had to go out n buy it again). But it was worth it coz Zuyao and my family all said it was quite nice, hee...Personally i felt the cake is a bit dense/ wet. Must improve the next time i do it...
KTV nite! (continuation from previous post)
Met up Qiuyan and Trina for KTV at Teo Heng. Had dinner at MOS Burger with Trina coz Qiuyan was caught up at work and hence was late. The KTV was fun! The last time we met was during CNY so we had quite a lot to catch up.
Qiuyan sang some Sammi Cheng's old songs, which prompted me to see which of her songs i felt like singing. And i found a gem!! I saw the Cantonese version of Superwoman (by Karyn White) so decided to check it out. It was a great move coz Sammi is superbly good!!!
The original Cantonese version was sang by Faye Wong and already i was so in love with the song. I've been singing the Faye Wong version for years (i'm not joking...i got to know the song through her 1996/97 concert vcd) and didn't think anyone else could carry it off as well as Faye.
Hearing Sammi's version of it of her 2004 concert is really an eye/ear opener! It's already difficult to accept a new version of a song that is so loved/ popular/ well sung, and even more difficult to surpass it, yet Sammi did it. And if you have seen her live singing the song, you'd be blown away. Not only by her incomparable delivery of the song but also her stage presence and X-factor.
Like what Qiuyan and Trina say, she is really the so called
Tian Hou, or heavenly queen! We can't think of any person in current HK entertainment circle that can possibly replace her or even come close to her. Nowadays artistes are either teeny boopers trying to make a quick buck, good lookers who can't sing ,or good singers who don't have the X-factor.
Anyway from now on, i guess everytime i go KTV, you can bet i'll probably pick the Sammi version of Superwoman.
Finally, the weekend.
It's finally Saturday!! This whole week has been a mess! All because of the CNY analysis that i have to do. I got this assignment last Tuesday end (2 March) and handed in the data request to my colleague on Wednesday. Well, i waited a week before i got my data this Tuesday (or was it Wed?). However i discovered there were mistakes and so begins the nightmare. I don't remember how many times i passed back the data to my colleague, him to me, me to him...again and again. Until the deadline has passed (which was this Thursday), and yet as at this morning, the data was still wrong.
Luckily my other colleague is so kind to offer her help. She helped me to redo the entire data extraction on her own initiative. Just now when i checked my mail, she sent me the data at 10pm+. I guessed she must have stayed back to finish the entire thing, knowing that we are already late in delivery. I am so grateful, touched and guilty. Though i have stayed back till abt 6.30pm to accompany her (i could leave at 5.30pm since i've finished my work), she did not have to do that. I know she'll sure say since she's doing it already, might as well finish the whole thing.
Whatever it is, i am indebted to her. She has helped me so much along the way since i've joined the company. Perhaps i'm really
machi with the "tiger"...luckily i went to pray to the tiger god on Monday...(i know i'm being
leng here =P)
Anyway, now that the data is in, guess i have to work over the weekend. At least i can discuss with my boss coming Monday early in the morning. Even if it's wrong (*cross fingers*), at least won't need so much time to amend. All the best to myself!
Tired Friday
Just reached home after meeting CC6 for a post celebration of my birthday. Didn't manage to get what i wanted (a charm bracelet) so we went Cineleisure's Suki Sushi for dinner. We had fun eating and chatting, and the hot topic of the nite was songs from local MediaCorp's artistes!! Haha...it's really funny and amazing how we can remember so many old songs from TV dramas and albums, especially Weiliang. Really hope the theme for our next KTV session will be this! Can't wait coz i foresee the fun we'll have, hee...
Anyway, am so tired and sleepy today at work coz last night was SingTel Consumer Business Group's Annual D&D. The theme was International but I didn't dress up. Was quite looking forward to it initially becoz 1) there's supposed to be a SingTel Idol Singing Competition (it's almost held every yr), 2) it's a chance to dress up and ban mei mei! and 3) thought i'll be 1 of the lucky winners of the lucky draw!
Well, it turned out that this year, (of all years!) they decided to do away with the SingTel Idol thingy. My colleagues were not going to dress up according to the theme, AND i didn't win ANY thing at all!!! There was 136 tables, meaning abt 1360 pple...and with only 118 prizes, think there's just not enough to go round.
And the food was not fantastic! Not to mention the inapt waiter assigned to our table, who dropped food here and there, kept muttering/ cursing to himself without apologising AND (this i cannot tolerate)who does not know how to hold the spoon and fork properly to distribute food for us!
Oh, and there's this Auntie who kept hogging the mike, singing a Spanish song and very into her own world. What was on her mind??! I really dun understand how she can do such a thing when so many pple are puzzled/ appalled/ disgusted at her behaviour.
