Forbidden City: Portrait of An Empress

Just came home from watching Kit Chan's Forbidden City. It's a great musical! To someone like me who's not really a theatre person, i'd think it's a great production with great vocals and acting.

The story is quite simple. An American lady, Kate, gets invited to do a painting of Ci Xi. As she starts to paint, she gets to know better what Ci Xi went through - from a commoner to being chosen as a concubine, bearing the emperor's child and losing him to syphillis, fighting the internal struggles with the scheming Tun, the emperor's brother, etc etc. While in the process of painting Ci Xi, Kate has been corresponding with a guy (forgot his name) by letters, of her talks with and insights into Ci Xi's life...and this guy, is one who desparately wants to write a book that would sell...oh, and btw, he is a journalist...so you probably can guess what happened next =P

Anyway, I should have caught it the first time when it was here. Zuyao bought tickets but i had to rush back to Malaysia to attend my grandpa's wake, hence i missed it. So happy that it's back again! Anyway Zuyao bought the CD so we can listen to the nice songs again...

"呕"像剧 by BB5

This is a silly story that we "filmed" during one of our BB5 sports session...I cringe when i watch this so...be warned...

After watching this, my conclusion is BB5's strength is only in comedy, NOT love stories...

Star-chasing day - A family affair?

Yesterday was an unbelievable day.

It was the Superstar's audition at Toa Payoh HDB Hub. As Weilian would be performing and my mum loves him, she specially went down to TPY just to catch his performance. My morning was spent doing chores so i didn't join her until about 3pm. When i reached, my mum was in a good spot - at the 2nd level just outside OCBC - it is a good view of the stage from the top.

My dad, sian of the waiting had gone home...leaving my mum to stand and wait for weilian to appear. As Weiliang, Alvin and some other friends were in the queue to join Superstar, i left my mum to look for them. Guess wat, they were in the queue since 11.30am till 3.45pm (when i left)! Only queuing, not registered yet! Anyway, i got to rush to IMM to watch Opa (Kwon Sang Woo), so i left TPY shortly.

It was a mad crowd!! There were so many women! Me and Trina didn't get a good spot, got squeezed like sardines, and only got to catch a glimpse of Opa!! I'm soooo sad! He is so far yet so near...what i can see is only his fair fair skin from afar (but i can tell that his skin is really good)...and he's leaving tonite le =(

Sigh, it's such a big pity...my mum didn't get to watch weilian...and i only caught Opa's side and back view.

Oh, and Weiliang & gang didn't manage to sing eventually...most of them got rescheduled to Tuesday morning. What poor timing it is for working slaves like us...Makes me think twice abt joining the auditions this Sat. My mum even suggested that i got queue at 3,4am! Well...but i have cancelled my driving lesson, in case i decide to go =P

Primary School Gathering

After a year's hiatus, I met up with my primary schoolmates last Friday.

We have a "tradition" to meet up every Teacher's Day - to celebrate the day with our Chinese Teacher, Ms Wong, and also to catch up with each other. We didn't manage to meet last year so this year, one week prior to Teacher's Day, I sms-ed Shini (as i couldn't get Yaqi) and before we knew it, over 10 people were okay to meet!

I guess we are really proud of ourselves. Proud in a sense that even after so many years, 12 years to be exact, we are still making effort to organise this annual gathering. And the fact is, the group is getting bigger! This year the newbies are Kah Kit (or Kiat?) and Liyuan. And we plan to "recruit" more pple next year... =)

Anyway, back to the nite. We 1st had dinner at Crystal Jade at Bishan J8, afterwhich we saw Ms Wong home, then proceed for chit-chat session at Macdonalds. Later on we moved to the coffeeshop nearby (with the guys drinking some beers) as it was too hot at Macdonalds. Though there were some awkward silences in between, the overall feeling was great. Sure we never fail to talk about the same old stuff each year we meet...but it was really a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you have such great "old" friends that are growing old with you...

We are meeting up again this coming wednesday nite...looking forward to it and just hope that our "tradition" and friendship will lasts for as long as possible...
